Delta Society Pet Partners Training Course A wonderful first step on the road to becoming a therapy team, the Delta Society Pet Partners Training Course offers handler training through an interactive workshop. All Pet Partner Team Training courses are taught by a licensed Delta Society Instructor. This course offers handlers the unique advantage of learning in a professional atmosphere with the benefits of discussion groups, classmate interaction, role playing, video enhancement, and guest speakers. The goal of this workshop is to equip the human element of the animal therapy team with all the skills necessary to be a successful, confident Pet Partner. The cost of the two-day course includes all course materials (Team in Training Course Manual), and one free team evaluation (animal/handler) through BonaFide Dog Academy. A recommended "next step" after this workshop is the Therapy Dog Prep class, which will be offered at BonaFide in Feb/March 2010. Delta Society team evaluations will be scheduled to follow the completion of the Therapy Dog Prep class - time and location is posted as info becomes available. To continue with the therapy track in a timely manner, the dog element of the team should be ready to move immediately in the Therapy Dog Prep &/or the Pet Partners evaluation. Prerequesites to the Therapy Dog Prep class (scheduled to immediately follow workshop) include: Dog must be at least a year old, no history of human aggression and have passed the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test (or by instructor permission.) Please do not register for the workshop until your dog is ready. Instructor reserves the right to pre-evaluate teams before beginning therapy track. Handler must be an adult (18 yrs or older) unless prior permission is given by the instructor or the class is designated as a kid's class.
