Intro to Tracking Did you know that while humans have around 6 million olfactory cells in our noses that allow us to detect odors, dogs have over 220 million of these cells in their noses? An average dog's sense of smell is one hundred thousand times more sensitive than an average human's sense of smell. Put that incredible capability to work in a fun way in our introduction to tracking course. In this four week tracking course, we will introduce our dogs to the challenging world of tracking. No special equipment is needed for this class - just a dog with a nose and a handler who is interested in learning how to channel his/her dog's natural scenting abilities into the task of following human scent. Dogs love to use their noses and tracking allows handlers to join in the fun as well! Class length: 4 weeks Class size limit: 6 Class duration: 45 minutes Prerequisites A dog at least 6 months old A positive attitude A sense of humor Current vaccination records (including rabies for all dogs 28 weeks and older) Handler must be an adult (18 yrs or older) unless prior permission is given by the instructor or the class is designated as a kid's class.
